The Best 3rd Grade Bible Ceremony!
In many Christian denominations it is tradition to present 3rd graders with a new Bible! We love having this 3rd Grade Bible Ceremony in our Kids Ministry – our favorite part is how meaningful it was for our kids, families, and congregation. It is such a great way to invest in their walk with Christ. This is a short and sweet ceremony that can happen during your regular Sunday Service and will be remembered for years to come!
For this ceremony, you’ll need to choose an age appropriate Bible to gift to each of your 3rd graders. One of our favorites is the NIV Adventure Bible! Once you have your Bibles, you will wrap them in a very special way for the ceremony. You’ll need 3 different types of paper for the wrapping – gold paper/tissue paper, comics, and brown paper. Make sure to wrap the Bibles so that they are brown on the outside, comics in the middle, and gold on the inside!

Here is the meaning behind the 3 papers //
- The first layer of paper is brown to remind you that this book is very, very old. Some of the stories have been passed down from a time before people could even write.
- The second layer of paper is comic paper. Your Bible is filled with wonderful stories. There are adventure stories, stories of heroes, and most importantly the never-ending story of how God loves us.
- The third layer of paper is gold. This is to remind you that the Bible is very valuable. It is a treasure to us when we read it and hear what God is saying to us.
Make sure to share this meaning during the 3rd Grade Bible Ceremony and with a paper letter insert in their Bibles for later.
Here is an example of what to share in the 3rd Grade Bible letter //
We are so glad that you now have your very own Bible. We wanted to write
this letter to share with you the special way your Bible is wrapped. Your
Bible has been wrapped in three different layers of paper, each one
meaning something unique about the Bible.
The first layer of paper is brown to remind you that this book is very, very
old. Some of the stories have been passed down from a time before people
could even write.
The second layer of paper is comic paper. Your Bible is filled with
wonderful stories. There are adventure stories, stories of heroes, and most
of all the never-ending story of how God loves us.
The third layer of paper is gold. This is to remind you that the Bible is very
valuable. It is a treasure to us when we read it and hear what God is saying
to us.
This Bible is for you. We pray you will treasure it and learn from it.
With love,
Your church family
Hope you enjoy planning your 3rd Grade Bible Ceremony! We believe it will be a blessing to the families of your church!
