If you have been working in ministry for any amount of time, I am sure that you have found a few websites and apps that you absolutely depend on. When you are wearing many hats and juggling lots of balls, it helps to have great resources to utilize to help you stay organized, create content, and communicate with families. I have rounded up my top 8 websites for kids ministry, and here they are! (Click on the icons to take you to the site!)
Canva
Canva is absolutely amazing! I wish that I knew about Canva when I first started working in ministry because it truly would have been a lifesaver. Canva is a graphic design platform that has easy to use drag and drop features to help you create event flyers, social media posts, email headers, and lots more. You can do so much with the free version – go ahead and sign up to see what it offers! You can also upgrade to the paid version which includes even more graphics & templates, as well as a background remover (and more)!
Mailchimp
Mailchimp is the perfect tool to use when you need to send out email newsletters to your families! I used Mailchimp to send out monthly kids ministry newsletters, and daily overviews & updates to families during VBS week! It is really easy to use and helps you send fun yet professional emails. Go ahead and get started with their free version!
ShareFaith
ShareFaith is a great resource for your ministry! There are several different ‘apps’ within the ShareFaith Suite, but the one I am familiar with and recommend is ‘Church Media’. They have great graphics, mini movies, countdown videos, and other media resources that are great to use for events, holidays, and Sunday School/Kids Church. They also have ‘Kids Ministry Curriculum’ through another plan, so you can check that out! ShareFaith even offers a free 15 day trial.
SurveyMonkey
SurveyMonkey is a great tool for asking questions & collecting feedback from your church families. It is easy to use to create your very own custom survey. Want to know how families enjoyed your VBS week? Want to know what family events they’d be interested in attending? Wondering how many children would be interested in a kids choir? You can do all of this with SurveyMonkey! Check out what they offer and take advantage of their free plan!
Sign Up Genius
Sign Up Genius is absolutely essential for you if you work with volunteers at church! It is very easy to use and is so helpful for organizing events, groups, and volunteers! Create a Sign Up online, send the link out, and people sign up online. One of the best parts is that Sign Up Genius will send out reminders to everyone who signed up! I used this many times for organizing summer outreach events, food donations for our VBS party, and Easter EGGstravaganza volunteers! Get started with their free plan today!
Worship House Kids
Worship House Kids is a site filled with tons of great media for kids ministry! They have great game videos, lyric song videos, countdowns, backgrounds, and more! It is a great resource for creating your slides for kids programming. Videos/elements are priced individually and include several different formats to work with your software!
Planning Center
Planning Center is a set of software tools specifically for churches. You can use the whole system, or pick and choose which products to use – they have a whole section on how Planning Center works for Children’s Ministry! In the past, I have used ‘Services’ to schedule volunteers for kids ministry, and it was extremely helpful. Planning Center sends reminders, shows you block out dates from volunteers, and allows you to communicate directly from the program. They have training videos to get you started and a great support team for when you need help! Pricing depends on what your church needs, and you get 30 days for free!
Bible App for Kids
YouVersion’s The Bible App for Kids is an amazing resource for the kids and families in your church! The app is free and features beautiful illustrations, an animated storybook experience, and games and activities! The website has extra resources for parents including coloring sheets, parent guides, and videos. Make sure you tell your families about this resource they can use at home!
